Abstract

Annotation: The Romantic period in American literature represents a significant
departure  from  the  Enlightenment  ideals  of  reason  and  logic,  embracing  emotion,
imagination, and the individual spirit. Emerging in the early 19th century, American
Romanticism  reflected  the  nation's  evolving  identity,  exploring  themes  of  nature,
individualism,  and  transcendence.  This  era  produced  some  of  the  most  celebrated
literary works, characterized by their emphasis on the sublime beauty of the natural
world,  the  exploration  of  human  emotions,  and  a  quest  for  deeper  philosophical
meaning. By examining key authors, works, and thematic elements, this study delves
into the core of Romanticism’s influence on American literature.
