ETYMOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF TWENTY COMMON ZOONYM PHRASES
Abstract
Zoonym phrases, which involve animals as metaphors or symbols, are widely used in language and offer valuable insights into cultural perceptions of animals. These expressions often carry meanings beyond their literal interpretations, reflecting historical, cultural, and social attitudes toward various animals. This study presents an etymological analysis of twenty commonly used zoonym phrases, exploring their origins, meanings, and the roles of animals in language and culture.
