Жигар — инсон танасидаги энг муҳим органлардан бири бўлиб, у кўплаб физиологик ва биохимик жараёнларда фаол иштирок этади. Унинг вазифалари организмнинг метаболик ва детоксикация жараёнларини тартибга солишдан тортиб, хормонларни ишлаб чиқариш ва озиқ-овқат моддаларининг самарали тақсимотини таъминлашгача кенг қамровли. Мақолада жигарнинг физиологик аҳамияти, организмнинг озиқ моддалар билан таъминланишидаги роли, шунингдек, жигарнинг бузилиши организмга қандай таъсир кўрсатиши ҳақида сўз юритилади. Мақола жигарнинг инсон саломатлигига бўлган таъсири ва унинг функционал ҳолатини сақлаш учун муҳим нуқталарни кўриб чиқади.
