Abstract

Pronunciation is a vital aspect of language learning, especially for beginners, as it ensures clear and effective communication. However, many learners struggle with pronunciation due to limited exposure to phonetics in traditional English teaching, which often emphasizes grammar and vocabulary. This article explores the importance of teaching phonetics to beginners and presents practical methods to build pronunciation skills. It emphasizes the role of phonetics in language learning, outlines engaging techniques like visual aids, interactive activities, and the use of phonetic transcription, and highlights the significance of assessing pronunciation through structured rubrics. Finally, the "5-minute pronunciation" technique is proposed as an innovative approach to integrate phonetics into daily lessons. By focusing on phonetics from the outset, educators can help learners achieve clear, confident, and fluent speech.
