Green algae are ancient organisms living mainly in fresh water, marine and wet soil environments and are considered as the ancestors of higher plants. Their classification is divided into three main classes - chlorophyceae, ulvophyceae and charophyceae. Vegetative, sexual and asexual reproduction methods are also covered in detail.
