Muammonig zarurati va dolzarbligi: Gepatit A virusi (VGA) butun dunyo bo'ylab endemik hisoblanadi, ammo tez tez epidemiyalar ham sodir bo'lishi mumkin. Haddan tashqari gavjum va yomon sanitariya holatiga ega bo'lgan hududlarda ushbu virus kattalar orasida ham keng miqyosda tarqalishi mumkin. Infektsiyaning klinik oqibatlari yoshga bog'liq bo’lib asosan yosh bolalarda kasallik asimptomatik tarzda namoyon bo’ladi.
