Abstract

Abstract: Listening comprehension is a fundamental skill in language learning, and subtitles have become a widely used tool to facilitate this process. This article explores how subtitles can be effectively used to enhance listening skills, focusing on the benefits of various types of subtitles, including bilingual and captions. The paper discusses research supporting the use of subtitles in improving vocabulary acquisition, listening accuracy, and overall comprehension. Additionally, it highlights the psychological and cognitive processes involved in subtitle use and provides practical recommendations for their application in educational settings. Finally, it examines the potential challenges and limitations of relying on subtitles in language learning.
